Sliding glass doors, bifolds and sliding windows in aluminium

Sliding glass doors and sliding windows are the most used systems in Saudi villas and apartments because they need no space in front of the opening, and that is exactly what gets checked before the profile is approved.

When is a sliding glass door the right choice?

A sliding glass door or window runs in its own track instead of swinging on a hinge, so it takes no space from the room or the balcony. That makes it the usual choice for wide openings, balconies and corridors that need the space in front of them, and rooms with furniture standing right in front of the window.

If the opening must clear completely, a bifold door that folds and stacks at one side suits it better than a standard slider. Our sliding glass doors for sale are not ready-made units in fixed sizes. As a sliding glass door company with its own aluminium factory, we build custom sliding patio doors and windows to order, and our installers fit them on site. Aluminum sliding doors are made to the opening, and the table shows what is checked first.

Sliding patio doors, bifold or hinged: which should you choose?

It depends on the free space in front of the opening and how much of it you need to open. A Royal sliding door opens half the opening on two tracks and takes no space; a bifold opens almost all of it at a higher price; a hinged door opens it fully but needs room to swing.

Sashes are chosen by opening width: a small or dual sliding glass door has two sashes on two tracks, and big sliding glass doors for wide or oversized openings take three or four, as the table below shows.

Premium door profiles (1.8–2 mm) add 10%. Outside Makkah, transport and installation add 3% in Jeddah and Taif, 5% in Madinah, 8% in Riyadh and the Eastern Province and 10% in Abha, Tabuk and Qassim.

Frameless bifold glass: when is it used?

Frameless folding glass (frameless bifold glass doors) is chosen when the whole opening must clear and the glass face should run without any aluminium profile, as on shopfronts, majlis fronts and balconies with a view. It is a run of tempered (toughened) glass panels with no frame that fold and stack at one side, also known as retractable glass doors or movable glass walls, and it is priced by quote according to the opening size.

Which system suits large sliding glass doors and sliding glass walls?

A multi-panel Royal sliding door on three or four tracks, or a folding door when almost the whole width must open. Three or four panels slide behind each other and clear about two-thirds or three-quarters of the opening, so a full wall of glass can open onto a patio or garden without anything swinging into the room.

Big panels are heavy, so the rollers that carry them and the number and depth of the tracks are checked first, and an exterior opening takes the thicker exterior profile with drainage in the bottom track. Where almost all of the glass wall must open, a bifold aluminium door stacks its leaves at one side from SAR 1,350/m², while a frameless folding glass wall is priced by quote. Fixed glass between rooms is a different product: see interior glass wall systems and partitions.

How much does a sliding glass door cost in Saudi Arabia?

From SAR 540 per square metre, supplied and installed before 15% VAT. A two-track Royal sliding door costs SAR 540/m², three tracks SAR 650 and four tracks SAR 740; bifold (folding) doors start from SAR 1,350/m², and premium 1.8 to 2 mm profiles add 10%. The lowest figure is a two-track door with clear glass in the standard profile. If you are pricing cheap sliding glass doors, that configuration is the economical starting point, and the cost calculator shows how tracks, glass and profile change the figure.

These are Makkah rates; other cities add 3% to 10% for transport and installation only, as listed above. Because each door is made to its opening rather than sold in stock sizes, the final figure follows the size and the glass. Every published rate is in the aluminium and glass price guide.

Aluminium sliding doors: tracks, locks and drainage

A Royal sliding door is priced by its number of tracks, two, three or four, and more tracks let more sashes slide behind each other. The lock is specified with the handle in writing in the quote, because hardware is the first thing daily use wears out, and complete sliding doors ship with Italian accessories. The bottom track gets drainage slots so rainwater runs out instead of standing in it. Sliding doors share the profile and factory powder coat of our other aluminium doors and windows, so they come in the same colours: white, anthracite grey, champagne, burnt brown, black and wood finish. Aluminium bi-fold doors take the same colours. Because the coat is baked on in the factory rather than applied on site, powder-coated aluminium sliding doors and windows arrive already finished. See aluminium window colours.

Automatic sliding doors are a different product: frameless 19 mm glass doors from SAR 3,780/m², covered on frameless glass doors.

Balcony, kitchen and bathroom sliding doors: exterior or interior?

The difference is in the profile, not the way it opens: an exterior sliding door uses a thicker, more reinforced profile with different hardware. A balcony door faces rain and dust, so it needs drainage slots in the bottom track and a lock specified with the handle, while an interior slider follows its location and size. So outdoor sliding glass doors, on a patio, a veranda or as a back door, take the exterior profile, and indoor sliding glass doors between rooms take the interior one. A balcony sliding door price is worked out like any Royal sliding door, from SAR 540/m² on two tracks, supplied and installed before VAT in Makkah, and the size, the number of tracks, the glass and the profile grade then set the final figure.

In bathrooms, a sliding door is chosen where a leaf has no room to swing, and the rollers, the sliding path and the adjoining wall are checked. A frosted glass sliding door lets daylight in while keeping the bathroom private. Bathroom and kitchen doors have their own sizes and profiles: see aluminium bathroom doors. For the balcony edge itself, see glass railings.

Frequently asked questions

What is a bifold (folding or accordion) door?

A bifold, accordion or concertina door folds into a run of leaves instead of sliding behind another sash, so it clears almost the whole opening. It suits large openings and partitions with a view, and needs a closer check of the folding path and of where the leaves stack when open.

How are sliding doors priced?

Per square metre: a Royal sliding door starts from SAR 540 on two tracks, 650 on three and 740 on four, and a bifold from SAR 1,350, supplied and installed before VAT in Makkah. Premium profiles add 10%. Aluminium sliding window prices follow the aluminium window grades, from SAR 325 to 740.

How much do aluminium bifold doors cost in Saudi Arabia?

Aluminium bifold (folding or accordion) doors start from SAR 1,350 per square metre, supplied and installed, before 15% VAT, in Makkah. Size and glass then set the final figure, and premium 1.8 to 2 mm profiles add 10%. Other cities add 3% to 10% for transport and installation, while a frameless folding glass wall is priced by quote.

What do you need to price a sliding door or window?

The opening size (width × height), the number of sashes, the glass type, the floor and access, and a photo of the opening if the building is already standing. A full drawing is not required.

Are your aluminium sliding doors for sale in stock sizes?

No. Every aluminium sliding door we sell is made to its opening in our Makkah factory, so there is no stock of fixed sizes. Send the width and height of the opening: a two-track Royal door starts from SAR 540/m², supplied and installed before VAT in Makkah, and premium profiles add 10%.

Do you have your own sliding glass door installers?

Yes. Our installers fit every sliding glass door we make, so one company measures, supplies and installs it, in Makkah and across Saudi Arabia. Installation is part of the price per square metre, and outside Makkah only transport and installation are added, from 3% in Jeddah and Taif to 10% in Abha, Tabuk and Qassim.

Can sliding doors take insulated glass?

Yes. Sliding windows and framed sliding doors can take double glazed units, but the unit thickness sets the profile that can hold it, so the glass and the profile are chosen together. In windows, double glazing is offered in the premium grade with a 1.8 to 2 mm profile.

How long does a sliding door order take?

Indicatively 10 to 14 working days from approved shop drawings to handover for an order under 30 m², and about 14 to 19 for 30 to 59 m². The technical office confirms the schedule once the sizes are checked.

Sliding glass door vs French doors: which is better?

It depends on the space in front of the opening. French doors are hinged, so they open the full width but need room to swing; a sliding glass door needs none but opens half on two tracks. An aluminium hinged door starts from SAR 585/m² and a Royal sliding door from SAR 540/m², supplied and installed before VAT in Makkah.

What are multi-slide patio doors with 3 or 4 panels?

Multi-slide patio doors have three or four sashes on as many tracks, sliding behind each other, so they open about two-thirds or three-quarters of the opening with no space needed in front. A Royal sliding door starts from SAR 650/m² on three tracks and 740 on four, supplied and installed before VAT in Makkah.

Do you make slimline aluminium sliding doors?

Yes. We supply and install slimline aluminium sliding doors, whose narrow aluminium frames leave more of the opening as glass. A fixed glazed sidelight can be added beside the door. The profile, glass and price are set in the quote.

Do you make pocket sliding doors?

Yes. We supply and install aluminium pocket sliding doors: the leaves slide into a cavity inside the wall and disappear when open. Pocket sliding glass doors suit interior rooms and patio openings, and the cavity has to be planned before the wall is finished. They are priced by quote.

Which frame colours do aluminium sliding doors come in?

White, anthracite (charcoal) grey, champagne, burnt brown, black and wood finish, powder coated in the factory, so a black, white or brown sliding glass door arrives already finished. Other shades, such as bronze, are matched from the powder-coat range before fabrication. Bifold doors and sliding windows take the same colours, so a patio door can match the windows around it.

Which glass goes in a sliding glass door: clear, frosted or tempered?

Clear glass is the base of the price. Frosted (sandblasted) glass suits bathroom, kitchen and internal doors that need privacy with daylight, and tempered (securit) safety glass goes where the opening calls for it; each adds a small amount per m², shown in the cost calculator. The glass is chosen with the profile, because the unit thickness sets the profile that can hold it.

Double or single sliding glass door: which do I need?

Most openings take a double sliding glass door: two panels, each on its own track, so either side opens and half the width clears at a time, from SAR 540/m² as a Royal two-track door. Where only one leaf should move and disappear, a pocket door slides into a cavity in the wall; wider openings take three or four panels.

Can a sliding glass door have side windows?

Yes. A fixed glazed sidelight can be added beside an aluminium sliding door, so a wide opening gets more glass without another moving panel. Its size, glass and price are set in the quote, together with the tracks and profile of the door.
