Aluminium door and window hardware: locks, handles and fittings for aluminium and glass

Aluminium door and window hardware, meaning locks, handles, rollers and hinges, comes fitted and adjusted in the complete units our factory makes, with Italian accessories, and our frameless glass doors arrive with their fittings set. None of it is sold loose, and each part is identified by its size, not its name.

How is door and window hardware chosen with the order?

It is fitted at the factory as part of the unit, so the door or window arrives complete and adjusted, with Italian accessories. The hardware follows the opening type: hinges, a lever handle and a lock on hinged units; rollers, a pull handle and brush seals on sliding ones.

To estimate a door or window, use the aluminium and glass price calculator.

The rule before anything else: size, not name

“Lock cylinder”, “pull handle” and “roller” each cover dozens of sizes, and parts that look identical can differ by millimetres. The right part is identified from three photos:

  • The part removed, with a ruler beside it
  • Its position in the door or window
  • Any code printed on it

The same photos go with any after-handover issue on our work.

Which rails and fittings carry sliding glass doors and glass railings?

Sliding units run on rollers in a track, and glass railings stand on a base channel, spigots or post clamps. Either way, the fittings come with the door or railing the factory supplies and installs, chosen by weight and fixing method, never sold as loose parts.

On a patio sliding door, the rail in the bottom track and the aluminum sliding door rollers are matched to the sash weight; see sliding glass doors. On the aluminium sliding doors we supply, the roller wheels come fitted and are included in the door price. The glass door sliding fittings on partitions and automatic entrances follow the panel thickness. Glass railing fittings, whether balcony glass fittings or staircase glass fittings, come with the glass railings we install.

A sliding shower door works the same way: its glass panel runs on a shower glass rail, which arrives fitted with the rest of the door's hardware on the shower glass enclosures we install. Canopy glass fittings likewise come with the laminated glass roof that turns an aluminium pergola into a glass canopy.

Can a lock cylinder be replaced on its own?

Yes. The cylinder slides out of the lock body once a single screw is removed, so changing it does not mean changing the lock or the door. Measure its overall length and each side from the fixing screw, which is not always central.

A main entrance takes a multi-point lock, chosen with the aluminium door for the main entrance before fabrication.

How to fit a bathroom door handle on an aluminium door

The handle is two sides joined by a square spindle and held by two screws, so it is fitted in place without removing the sash:

  1. Remove the old handle Undo its two inner screws and pull out both sides with the spindle.
  2. Measure Record the fixing-screw spacing and the spindle length; size, not shape, decides the match.
  3. Insert the new spindle Push it through the lock body until it shows on both sides.
  4. Fix both sides Tighten the two screws in turn, without over-tightening.
  5. Test before closing With the door open, test the handle; then close it and check the bolt enters the frame cleanly.

On our own bathroom doors the handle comes fitted, and we supply replacements to our customers; see aluminium bathroom doors.

Floor springs and frameless glass door fittings

A frameless glass door has no frame, so its weight rests on its fittings: on the doors we supply and install, the floor spring, hinges and handles are set by the panel's weight and size, and the spring is calibrated at installation.

The floor spring sits in the floor below the panel, carries the weight and sets the closing speed and hold-open angle. A door that slams usually needs adjusting, not a new unit. See frameless glass doors and architectural tempered glass.

Do you supply spare parts after handover?

Yes, to our customers: we supply parts for the doors and windows the factory made and installed, within the warranty and after it, and a part that fails under warranty is handled as normal under your project's terms. Parts are not sold loose or supplied for others' installations.

Frequently asked questions

What size of lock cylinder do I need?

The size of the one it replaces: its overall length and how that length splits on each side of the fixing screw. The shape does not decide the fit.

How is the right spare part identified for an aluminium door or window?

By size, not name: a photo of the part removed with a ruler beside it, a photo of its position, and any code printed on it.

What is the difference between a pull handle and a lever handle?

A pull handle is pulled, not turned, on sliding doors and windows; a lever handle turns to move the lock bolt on hinged units. On both, the deciding measurement is the distance between the fixing-screw centres.

How much does a floor spring for a frameless glass door cost?

No fixed price is published; it depends on the model, origin and panel weight. On the frameless glass doors we supply and install, the floor spring is part of the door and included in its price.

Do you sell aluminium spare parts separately?

No. Hardware is part of the aluminium doors and windows the factory makes and installs. We supply parts later to our customers for work the factory installed, within the warranty and after it.
