Starting a project and requesting a quote

Do all project drawings need to be complete before getting in touch?

No. You can start with whatever you have: a BOQ, drawings, specifications, photos or first measurements. What still needs completing before pricing or the next technical stage then becomes clear.

What should I send to get a quote?

Send the documents you have with the project city, its current stage and a short description of the works. The files may include a BOQ, drawings, specifications, schedules and the details of the aluminium, glass and facade works. Send them through our quote request form.

Can I send a BOQ only?

Yes, and it can be a starting point. Some items, though, need the drawings or specifications to understand the sizes, systems, finishes and scope boundaries more precisely.

How much do aluminium and glass works cost, and what affects the price?

Published starting rates per square metre begin at SAR 135 for glass partitions, SAR 325 for aluminium windows and SAR 1,080 for skylights, supply and installation, before VAT, in Makkah. The price then moves with the system type, the sizes and quantities, the aluminium and glass specification, the finish and the supply and installation scope. Every service's rates are in our aluminium and glass prices guide.

Drawings and technical review

When do I need shop drawings?

Shop drawings are needed when the project's general drawings must be turned into details closer to what will actually be fabricated and installed. The level of detail depends on the system, the project scope and the approval procedure.

What is the difference between a BOQ and a material take-off?

A BOQ sets out the items and quantities as they appear in the project documents, while a material take-off (MTO) works from the drawings and details to set the materials and quantities actually tied to preparation and fabrication.

What happens if a drawing disagrees with the specifications or schedules?

The difference is identified and reviewed before anyone relies on it in the drawings or in fabrication, and the final decision goes back to the party authorised to approve it on the project.

What if the drawings change after coordination has started?

New revisions are reviewed to see which sizes, details, quantities or fabrication information they affect, before the earlier data is used any further.

Fabrication, supply and installation

Where is the Qusoor Al-Sultan factory?

The Qusoor Al-Sultan factory is at Building 8643, Mohammed Al-Taei Street, Wadi Jalil, Makkah 24224, and from there we serve projects across Saudi Arabia.

Do you supply and install?

Yes. The factory supplies and installs every service anywhere in Saudi Arabia: the components are fabricated at the Qusoor Al-Sultan factory in Makkah, then supplied and installed on site, with follow-up until the works are complete. Outside Makkah the price rises by 3% to 10% depending on the city, for transport and installation only; details in supply and installation outside Makkah.

Does fabrication start as soon as the price is approved?

Not necessarily. Before fabrication, the information the factory will work from must be clear under the project's requirements, which may include the sizes, drawings, details and required approvals.

Is all the work delivered to site at once?

That depends on the project status, the construction programme and how ready each area is. On some projects supply runs in phases with the progress of the works on site.

How long do aluminium and glass works take?

Lead time is estimated in working days from approved shop drawings to handover. For small areas it is an indicative 10–14 working days for doors under 30 m², 12–16 for windows under 50 m² and 21–28 for curtain wall facades under 50 m², rising with the area. The cost calculator shows the indicative time for your actual area; the committed time is written into the itemised quotation.

Site visits and residential projects

Do I need a site visit before asking for a price?

It is preferred, and a visit helps most when the building already stands or when details do not show clearly in the documents and photos. It is not a condition for starting, though: clear drawings, sizes and site photos reduce the need for an early visit, and you can send them first through the quote request form.

Can I get in touch if I do not know which system suits my villa?

Yes. Start with photos, drawings or a description of how the space will be used; the opening, sizes, use, glass and finish are then reviewed before the system is chosen. For a first comparison, see aluminium window types and aluminium door styles.

Warranty and after handover

Is there a warranty on aluminium and glass works?

The warranty period and terms vary with each project and the agreed quotation or contract. The warranty may cover what counts as manufacturing defects under the project's own terms.

What should I do if I notice an issue after handover?

Send the project details, a description of the issue and where it is, with photos or a video of it if you have them. The case is then reviewed against the scope of works and the warranty terms.

Does the warranty include periodic maintenance?

Not necessarily. The warranty follows what was agreed in the project documents and does not mean a periodic maintenance programme unless one is written into them. The factory does, however, maintain the work it installed for its customers, within the warranty and after it; details in warranty and maintenance of our work.
