Glass entrances

Frameless glass doors for shops and offices

Frameless glass doors, known in the Saudi market as securit doors, are entrances made of toughened glass panels with no visible profiles. Their thickness, fittings and operation are settled before fabrication, because toughened glass cannot be altered after toughening.

Where are frameless glass doors used?

Mostly on commercial entrances, where a clear view and an open look matter. A frameless glass door, sometimes called a seamless glass door, is a toughened glass panel hung on metal fittings instead of sitting in a full aluminium frame, which is why it serves as an outdoor glass entry door on shops and showrooms, at office entrances and reception areas, and in internal openings in glass walls.

What is settled on a frameless glass door before fabrication
ItemWhat it isWhy it matters
Glass thickness10 or 12 mm on most entrances; 19 mm on the frameless doors in our price listSets the weight and the fittings that carry it
FixingFloor and ceiling, or a top railDepends on the floor and ceiling at installation
FittingsFloor hinges, handles, a floor spring and a lockThe biggest price factor after the glass itself
OperationOpening direction, and whether it stays open all daySets the mechanism and the hinge strength

Because the door is fully transparent, a frosted band or sticker is usually added at eye level so nobody walks into it. Glass thickness and safety glass rules are checked against the Saudi Building Code and the project specification, so no single thickness is assumed for every entrance. The glass is securit, the Saudi market name for tempered glass.

Hinged, swing or automatic sliding: which frameless glass door?

The three types differ in how they open and in the fittings that carry the panel, which is what changes the price. All three are custom glass doors, made frameless in 19 mm glass to the size of the opening: hinged from SAR 450/m², swing (double-action) from SAR 695/m² and automatic sliding from SAR 3,780/m², supplied and installed before VAT in Makkah.

Doors are made at our factory in Wadi Jalil, Makkah; other cities add 3% to 10%. The panel is clear, showing the space from outside, or sandblasted to pass light and block the view where privacy is needed, as in meeting rooms.

Automatic glass doors

An automatic glass door opening system uses a motor and a motion sensor: the door opens as a person approaches and closes after they pass, so the entrance stays shut most of the time and keeps the air-conditioning in. It suits busy entrances such as showrooms, clinics, hotels and offices. Ours is a frameless sliding door in 19 mm toughened glass; the motor position above the opening, its power supply and the side space the leaf slides into are settled before fabrication. The automatic glass door price starts from SAR 3,780/m², supplied and installed before VAT in Makkah, because a motor, a motion sensor and an overhead track carry and move the leaf.

How much does a frameless glass door cost in Saudi Arabia?

From SAR 450 per square metre for a hinged door in 19 mm tempered glass, supplied and installed before 15% VAT. The opening type sets the rate: swing (double-action) doors start from SAR 695/m² and automatic sliding doors from SAR 3,780/m², because the fittings that carry and move the panel change with each type.

Swing (double-action)Opens both ways and returns to closed695

Outside Makkah, transport and installation add 3% to 10% by city. Fittings such as a floor spring or a central lock, and any sandblasted finish, are settled with the size before toughening; see floor springs and glass door fittings.

What does frameless glass door installation involve?

In five stages that start before fabrication, not on installation day: measure the opening after the floor and ceiling are finished, approve hole and fitting positions before toughening, prepare the floor or top fixing, hang and level the panel, then set the closing mechanism and add the safety band at eye level.

  1. Measure after the floor and ceiling are finished: the final tile level and ceiling set the panel height.
  2. Approve holes, hinges and lock positions before toughening: toughened glass cannot be cut or drilled afterwards, so any later change means a new panel.
  3. Prepare the floor spring or top fixing: the floor spring is set into the floor below the panel when the door needs one, or the panel hangs from a top rail; on automatic doors the motor and track go above the opening.
  4. Hang and level the panel: adjusted vertically and horizontally until the gaps are even and it closes without rubbing.
  5. Set the mechanism and add the safety band: closing speed, hold-open angle and, on automatic doors, the sensor range, then the frosted band at eye level.

Frequently asked questions about frameless glass doors

What is a frameless glass door?

A toughened glass panel hung on metal fittings instead of sitting inside a full aluminium frame, giving a clear entrance with no visible profiles. Toughened glass cannot be cut or drilled after toughening, so the sizes and fitting positions are approved before fabrication.

How are frameless glass doors priced?

Per square metre, in 19 mm glass: from SAR 450 for hinged, 695 for swing and 3,780 for automatic sliding, supplied and installed before VAT in Makkah, plus 3% to 10% in other cities. The final figure depends on the opening size and the fittings, such as a floor spring or a central lock.

Are frameless glass doors suitable for outside?

Yes; shop, showroom and office entrances are their most common use. For external use, the glass thickness, the safety requirements and the fixing method are checked against the project specification and the Saudi Building Code.

What is the difference between a frameless glass door and an aluminium glass door?

A frameless glass door is a toughened panel with no full frame around it, while an aluminium glass door holds the glass inside an aluminium profile. The first looks cleaner; the second seals better and takes more locks and infill options.

Can a frameless glass door be frosted for privacy?

Yes. The panel can be sandblasted to pass light while blocking a clear view, as in meeting rooms, or kept clear to show the space. The choice is settled with the glass thickness before fabrication, because the panel cannot be changed afterwards.

How long does a frameless glass door order take?

Indicatively 10 to 14 working days from approved shop drawings to handover for an order under 30 m². The technical office confirms the schedule once the sizes and fitting positions are approved.

Can a frameless glass door be single or double?

Both. A narrow entrance takes one frameless leaf, and a wider one takes a pair of double doors meeting at the centre, where a central lock can secure them; a pair of hinged leaves gives the look of frameless French doors. Price is per square metre of both leaves: from SAR 450 hinged, or 695 for double-action swing doors.

How thick is a tempered glass door?

The frameless tempered (toughened) glass doors in our price list are 19 mm thick, while 10 or 12 mm is common on other entrances. Thickness sets the weight and the fittings that carry it, so it is checked against the Saudi Building Code and the project specification, and fixed before toughening because the glass cannot be cut or drilled afterwards.

Why are frameless glass doors so expensive?

Mostly the glass and its fittings. Each panel is 19 mm toughened glass made to an approved size, since it cannot be cut or drilled after toughening, and floor springs, hinges, locks or an automatic motor are the next biggest cost. Even so, a hinged frameless door starts from SAR 450/m², below a framed aluminium hinged door at 585.
