Shade from above, privacy from the sides

Aluminium shades and screens: installation and prices in Saudi Arabia

Shades and screens are usually ordered for the same space: the shade blocks the sun from above, and the aluminium screen blocks the view from the sides while air passes between its slats. Qusoor Al-Sultan makes both in Makkah and installs them across Saudi Arabia, with screens from SAR 350/m² and fixed shades from SAR 685/m², supplied and installed before VAT.

What are shades and screens?

A shade is an outdoor aluminium roof fixed to the house or boundary wall, carried on front columns or cantilevered without them, over seating, a garden, a pool or a parking space. A screen is a row of parallel aluminium slats fixed on a yard wall, a roof edge or a balcony, blocking the view from neighbours and the street without trapping the air.

As the Wikipedia article on canopies puts it, a canopy is an overhead roof or structure that provides shade or shelter. The shades we build are the fixed kind attached to the building, with an aluminium frame and roof, not portable parasols or fabric awnings.

Shade and screen prices per m² (2026)

Aluminium screens start from SAR 350/m², fixed shades on front columns from SAR 685/m², and cantilever shades without front columns from SAR 1,005/m², supplied and installed before VAT for a project in Makkah. A wood-look frame adds SAR 215/m², and the final price is set after the site survey.

How are shades and screens installed?

Installation runs in six steps, and both are handled in one survey and one quote when you order them together:

  1. Send photos and sizes Send the area you want to shade, the length of the wall or roof edge and the height you want screened, photos from inside and outside, and the project city.
  2. Estimate the shade The cost calculator gives a price range and lead time for the shade by area, system and city; the screen is priced per m² from SAR 350 in the quote.
  3. Site survey We measure the site, set the shade's load-bearing section (standard 10×10 cm or reinforced 15×15 cm), and agree the screen height, slat spacing and what it fixes to.
  4. Quote and approval The order is priced on the agreed sizes, then the sizes and shop drawings are approved.
  5. Fabrication in Makkah Shade sections and screen slats are cut and prepared at our factory in Wadi Jalil, Makkah, and reach the site ready to install.
  6. Installation and handover The shade frame is fixed to the wall and columns before the roof goes on, the screen is fixed on the wall or roof edge, and slat alignment, roof slope and drainage are checked before handover.

A shade under 30 m² takes 10 to 14 working days from approval of the shop drawings to handover; the screen's lead time is set in the quote.

Frequently asked questions about shades and screens

How much do aluminium shades and screens cost?

Aluminium screens start from SAR 350/m², fixed shades from SAR 685/m² and cantilever shades without front columns from SAR 1,005/m², rising to SAR 1,220/m² for a cantilever with a wood-look frame, supplied and installed before VAT in Makkah. Laser-cut screens, motorised louvred pergolas and glass roofs are priced by quote after the survey.

Is installation included in the price?

Yes. Prices are supplied and installed before VAT, and for shades they include the standard 10×10 cm section, fixing to the wall and a solid aluminium slat roof. Outside Makkah only transport and installation are added, from 3% to 10% depending on the city.

Do you install shades and screens outside Makkah?

Yes, across Saudi Arabia. Everything is made at our factory in Makkah and installed on your site, and only transport and installation are added to the Makkah price: 3% for Jeddah and Taif, 5% for Madinah, 8% for Riyadh and the Eastern Province, and 10% for Abha, Tabuk and Qassim.

Do you make steel or fabric shades and screens?

No. We make shades and screens in aluminium only: a powder-coated or wood-look aluminium frame, solid aluminium slats, and laminated glass as a shade roof by quote. Fabric, steel and plastic panels are alternatives on the market that the factory does not make.

Do aluminium shades and screens rust?

No. Aluminium does not rust and does not need repainting, which suits yards and roofs exposed to sun and dust. Washing the slats with water when dust builds up, and checking the fixings after strong dust storms, is enough.
